“A Time for Renewal and Reconciliation.”
It is the first KUUF meeting since the summer hiatus, a new year for KUUF, and coincides with the Jewish New Year. Led the KUUF folks to ask me to speak about the Jewish New Year. The talk is titled “A Time for Renewal and Reconciliation.” It will cover the origins of the Jewish High Holidays, their practices and meaning, and part of their history few people know and is never taught in Sunday School.
Maureen, Art’s wife, will join me for the service. Together, we are the founders of the Sunapee-Kearsarge Jewish Community.
Water Ceremony 2018
Our service on Sunday, September 9, 2018 will include a Water Ceremony. This UU tradition began with the UU Congregation in East Lansing, Michigan in 1980. Each member is invited to bring a small sample of water from their summer travels or a place of special significance. Members will share a short sentence about what the water represents to them. The water will then be poured into a common vessel to signify our community coming together again. There will be small cups of water available for people who would like to participate but do not have a water sample from their travels or a favorite place.
